Welcome to //Palimpsest//, one of the two in-person **[[https://oxfordrpg.com/|ORPGsoc Society Games]]**  for Trinity Term of the 2025–2026 academic year, alongside **[[https://exnihilo.oxfordrpg.com|Ex Nihilo]]**.

//Palimpsest// is a game set in the surreal dream vision of the **[[the House of Fame]]**, where sundry **[[Glossary#Dreamer|Dreamers]]** from across the world of **[[Untir]]** mingle, share tales amongst themselves, and vie for **[[The House of Fame#inhabitants and visitors|Fame's]]** favour.

//Palimpsest// will be running every Tuesday evening during term time, beginning in Week 1. For more information, see **[[When and Where]]**.

====== Getting Started ======
If you are new to Society Games, or to roleplaying in general, **[[guide_to_beginners_and_more|Guide for Beginners]]**, **[[Intro to the Wiki System]]**, **[[Uptimes and Sessions]]**, and **[[Downtimes and Turnsheets]]** may be useful reads. Also, check out the **[[Glossary]]** for useful terminology.

To get an idea of the game's tone and central themes, see **[[Style and Tone]]** and **[[Ways To Play]]**. For an essential guide on conduct and acceptable themes in //Palimpsest//, see the **[[Conduct and Acceptable Themes Policy]]**.

To learn more about the game's setting, see the pages in the Setting section of the sidebar, especially **[[Untir]]** and **[[the House of Fame]]**. Information about the different regions of the world, to inspire character origins, is navigable from the list. There is no pressure to read every Setting page in detail, and you do not need to remember everything!

====== Signing Up to Play ======
**If you wish to participate in the game, you will need to sign up using [[https://forms.gle/FfqZSkc9entTV91H8|this short form]] by 23.59 on Wednesday 22nd April**. In the event that more players sign up than we can accommodate, we will hold a ballot. More information about this is available on the **[[Character Creation]]** page.

There will be an optional Character Creation event on Friday 24th April at Christ Church College, which will simultaneously run online on our Discord Server. We strongly encourage you to join the Discord Server if you are interested in playing //Palimpsest//—it's a space where you can get help and ideas any time, and also socialise out-of-character with other players.

After ballot results are released on Thursday 23rd April and your place in the game is confirmed, you will need to create a character and submit it to us using the **[[https://forms.gle/juWAGk96KeiXoY6bA|Character Creation Form]]** by Saturday 25th April at 12:59.
